Growing up, Joseph Ferstl idolized the chamois his father had won in the Classic hand Hahnenkamm Downhill twice in 1970. This Sunday, Ferstl achieved a milestone by becoming the first German to win the World Cup super G at the same resort. In a touching moment, the trophy was presented to Ferstl by the organization, making it a special moment for the father-son duo. The emotional winning ceremony added to the significance of the victory.

Ferstl was elated, describing the win as a dream come true that he had aspired to since childhood. Following in his father’s footsteps, he aimed to secure the trophy, a goal he achieved after 40 years. He outpaced France’s Johan Clarey by 0.08 seconds to claim first place, with Italy’s Dominic Paris taking third. This victory marked Ferstl’s second win in his career and served as a source of pride for his country.

Ferstl’s strong performance left his competitors feeling challenged and pushed them to strive harder. While Clarey secured his fifth top-three finish, it was Ferstl who stole the spotlight and captured the audience’s attention with his exceptional display on the slopes.
