Dave Portnoy has significantly increased his wealth by winning a bet he calls “the greatest bet of my life.”

As the founder and owner of Barstool Sports, Portnoy is celebrating a big win after UConn clinched their second consecutive national title. The Huskies displayed a dominant performance in the NCAA Tournament by defeating Purdue 75-60 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Monday night. This victory marks them as the first team to secure back-to-back championships since the Florida Gators achieved it in 2006 and 2007.

Portnoy had faith in UConn’s success this year, showcasing his betting slip before the start of the tournament. He wagered $600,000 at +360 odds, and his foresight paid off handsomely with a winning amount of $2.7 million.

In a tweet following the win on Monday night, Portnoy exclaimed, “The greatest bet of my life. Thank you #uconn. They’d win the tournament 100 out of 100 times. The biggest win of my life by a mile.

Portnoy also shared a video of himself watching the game with Barstool staffers, and his expression revealed his elation.

During the game, both teams remained neck and neck in the early stages, with neither taking a lead of more than three points in the first 15 minutes. However, the Huskies dominated in the second half, leading by as much as 18 points at one stage.

Despite already being a wealthy businessman, Portnoy, who had the financial capacity to bet over half a million on a college basketball game, undoubtedly feels satisfied watching UConn achieve consecutive titles.
