American skier Mikaela Shiffrin fell short behind Petra Vlhova in the giant slalom at the World Championships in Sweden on Thursday.
Following her recent gold medal win in Are, Shiffrin faced challenging conditions and found herself in fourth place after her first run. Despite her efforts, she was unable to catch up to Vlhova, who secured her first world championship gold by surpassing the first-run leader, Viktoria Rebensburg from Germany.
The 23-year-old Shiffrin now has her sights set on achieving a fourth consecutive slalom world title on Saturday.
