Quarterback Nick Foles decides not to accept the 2019 contract offer from the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though he successfully guided the team to their first-ever Super Bowl victory last year, Nick Foles seems likely to leave the team before the upcoming 2019 NFL season.
Philadelphia plans to use the franchise tag on Foles and then explore trading options, as reported by ESPN. If a trade does not materialize, Foles will be free to join any team as a free agent. Foles made this decision after the Eagles officially announced that Carson Wentz would reclaim the starting QB position next season. Despite Foles stepping in and leading the Eagles to the playoffs after Wentz’s injury, the team has chosen to go with Wentz as their starting quarterback.
