The legal charge against Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, was dropped by the prosecution on Thursday. Kraft had been under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in a chain of sex spas in Florida.

The case concluded after the courts disallowed the use of video evidence that purportedly showed Kraft engaging in paid sex acts with employees of massage parlors. Last month, the Florida fourth court of appeal determined that the Jupiter police department violated Kraft’s right to privacy, along with others, by secretly installing cameras inside rooms of the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in 2019.

Consequently, the court prohibited the use of the video evidence during legal proceedings.

The video footage was the primary evidence linking Kraft and other individuals to soliciting sexual services from the spa employees. Following the appeal court’s ruling, the prosecution had no choice but to dismiss the case.

The prosecutors opted against seeking further legal action from the Florida Supreme Court, expressing concerns about potential repercussions on future law enforcement investigations.

Kraft’s legal team has requested the destruction of the allegedly incriminating footage. They have indicated that Kraft is willing to cover the state’s legal expenses should there be any objections to the footage’s destruction.
