LeBron James has joined the chorus of voices expressing outrage over the recent police shooting of an unarmed Black man, Jacob Blake. Blake, a Black man, was shot in the back during the day in Kenosha, sparking protests and civil unrest in the area.

The basketball star from the Los Angeles Lakers, known for his activism on social justice issues, previously spoke out against the death of George Floyd and has now denounced the shooting of Blake by the police.

In a tweet, LeBron James wrote, “And y’all wonder why we say what we say about the Police!! Someone please tell me WTF is this???!!! Exactly another black man being targeted. This shit is so wrong and so sad!! Feel so sorry for him, his family and OUR PEOPLE!! We want JUSTICE.”

The police department has confirmed the incident and mentioned that the sheriff’s department and Wisconsin State Patrol have assumed control of the situation. The state’s Justice Department and Division of Criminal Investigation will conduct an inquiry into the shooting.

Governor Tony Evers, a member of the Democratic Party, released a statement acknowledging that Blake was shot in broad daylight. He emphasized the long-standing issue of Black individuals being subjected to violence by law enforcement, both in Wisconsin and across the nation.
