Colton Underwood, known for being a virgin when he became the lead on ABC’s The Bachelor, opened up about his struggles with his sexuality at that time. He attributes his time on the show to realizing that he is attracted to women, especially falling in love with Cassie Randolph.

During an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Underwood mentioned, “[The show taught me] that I’m straight and I’m very, very attracted to Cassie [Randolph] and women — but it would have been OK if it would have been the other way too.” He emphasized that acceptance of oneself is crucial.

The 28-year-old former football player revealed that his virginity was a subject of speculation regarding his sexual orientation, with rumors even persisting during his relationship with Randolph. He acknowledged that dealing with such rumors is not a new experience for him, dating back to his school years.

Underwood expressed gratitude towards the reality TV franchise for aiding in his personal growth and promoting self-reflection. He released a book titled “The First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV,” describing it as a portrayal of his contradictory nature.

In an Instagram post, he shared, “I hope that this book can resonate or help even just one person that is struggling or going through a rough time in their life.” Underwood conveyed his appreciation to his followers for accompanying him on his journey.
