Simone Biles, an accomplished gymnast and wife to NFL player Jonathan Owens, recently had to address rumors circulating on social media that she is pregnant.
Speculation about Biles being pregnant arose after she shared a series of photos on Instagram cheering on her husband at a game between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets. Biles had to deny the rumors and made it clear that she is not expecting a baby.
In response to the pregnancy rumors, Biles directly addressed the issue on her Instagram Story, stating, “I hate that I even have to address this, but please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant.’ I’m not pregnant,” according to TMZ.
Her followers came to her defense, urging others to refrain from speculating and making comments about women’s bodies.
Biles has made it clear that she is focused on preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, expressing her desire to participate. She emphasized the need for caution and intentionality in her preparations, both mentally and physically, for the upcoming games.
“I think we have to be a little bit more cautious about how we do things, so everything that we’re doing leading up to this next games or whatever is very intentional,” Biles said of her mindset. “So we’ve kind of been playing it on the down-low this time, making sure mentally and physically are both intact. So I think it’ll be different, but it’ll be good.”
This year has been significant for Biles, as she secured her eighth U.S. Championship title in August. Additionally, she and Owens celebrated their marriage with a lavish ceremony in Mexico in April.
Given her focus on competing in the 2024 Olympics, any pregnancy would potentially disrupt her preparations, as the games are set to begin in approximately seven months.
