Cain Velasquez has spoken out about the recent events surrounding him.
In February, a shocking incident took place in San Jose, Calif., where the MMA star was arrested and accused of attempted murder. It was reported that Velasquez had allegedly fired a .40-caliber handgun several times at a truck carrying Harry Goularte Jr., who was charged with harming a relative of Velasquez. The shooting missed Goularte but unfortunately hit a 63-year-old family member.
Velasquez was considered a danger to the public and is currently being held in jail without bail.
Recently, Velasquez posted a message on social media for the first time since the incident:
“To all those who have shown their support, my family and I can never thank you enough. Your love and kind words have given me strength during this difficult time. The situation is complicated and evolving. To the true victims involved, I hope you find the courage to speak up. By sharing your truth, justice will prevail, and your healing can begin. I will continue to support and care for my community and all of you. Thank you for standing by me – Cain Velasquez.”
If found guilty, Velasquez could face a sentence of more than 20 years in prison.
Velasquez is scheduled to appear in court today.
