Not long ago, Cain Velasquez was at the pinnacle of his career. He held the UFC championship title and was even considered one of the greatest MMA fighters ever. However, in the last three fights, dating back five years, his dominance has been questioned.

Velasquez made a mark by defeating Junior Dos Santos in 2013 to defend his title, but an injury to his knee put a halt to his momentum for nearly 20 months. When he returned, he lost the championship to Fabricio Werdum, a setback in his career.

Another injury in July 2016 further sidelined Velasquez, but he made a strong comeback by knocking out Travis Browne. However, he has not fought since then. Recently, the 36-year-old returned to the octagon on February 17 to face Francis Ngannou after being away for 2 ½ years. Injuries have been a recurring theme in his career, impacting his time in the limelight.

Apart from his career, Velasquez also regretted missing out on family time when his daughter was born nine years ago. He and his wife are now expecting a son, leading Velasquez to prioritize his role as a family man over being a top UFC fighter.
