Enes Kanter Freedom has publicly criticized former NBA player Jeremy Lin for his decision to play in the Chinese Basketball Association instead of supporting Taiwan.

The Boston Celtics center has been vocal about social and political issues, previously calling out LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

Lin, who is 33 years old, currently plays as a guard for the Beijing Ducks.

In a post on his verified Twitter account on Sunday morning, Freedom wrote, “Shame on you @JLin7. Haven’t you had enough of that Dirty Chinese Communist Party money feeding you to stay silent? How disgusting of you to turn your back against your country & your people. Stand with Taiwan! Stop bowing to money & the dictatorship. Morals over Money brother.”

Lin had played for the Beijing Ducks during the 2019-20 season and attempted an NBA comeback in the G League last year, averaging 19.8 points per game and 6.4 assists in nine games with Santa Cruz.

Earlier this year, Lin announced his decision to forego his hopes of returning to the NBA after not receiving a call-up despite his performance in the G League.

In a post on Instagram on May 18, Lin expressed his disappointment, stating, “I told myself I just need ONE ten-day contract, one chance to get back on the floor and I would blow it out the water.”

In June, Lin confirmed that he would be rejoining the Beijing Ducks for the upcoming 2021-22 season in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Lin made history as the first American-born player of Taiwanese or Chinese descent to play in the NBA.
