Kyrie Irving has not participated in any basketball games this season due to his decision not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and it appears unlikely that he will change his mind anytime soon.

Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, a reliable source within Kyrie Irving’s circle, reported on Monday that the star player remains hesitant about getting vaccinated due to concerns about potential “long-term side effects.” However, Irving continues to stay active and in good spirits, and, as stated by a source, is described as “the happiest that I’ve seen Kyrie in years” despite his absence from the basketball court.

Robinson also highlighted Irving’s desire not to be labeled as anti-vaccine.

“Those close to him have indicated that Irving is mindful of the impact of his statements, being aware that any stance he takes will receive significant attention and criticism. He is not positioning himself as a representative for those who are hesitant about vaccines; rather, his decision is rooted in his personal reservations about the available vaccines, as per insiders.”

Quoting sources within Irving’s inner circle, Robinson mentioned Irving’s concerns regarding the potential “long-term effects” associated with the COVID vaccines.

“Within Irving’s circle, the prevailing opinion is that he is not inherently against vaccinations and respects individuals’ rights to choose. His reluctance regarding the COVID vaccine stems from his worries about potential long-term consequences, although the CDC has stated that such effects are “extremely unlikely.”

When asked about a potential plant-based alternative, Steve Nash confirmed he had not discussed this option with Irving.

“If he is able to return, it would be a great addition, but we cannot rely solely on that possibility,” mentioned the Nets coach during a practice session on Monday. “We must focus on our progress, work hard, and continue to excel as a team, a mindset that has served us well this season.”

Irving’s decision to forgo vaccination has led to his exclusion from the Nets lineup, as per a New York City mandate preventing him from participating in home games at Barclays Center. Consequently, he has been restricted to playing solely in away games.

Despite Irving’s absence, the Nets currently hold the top position in the Eastern Conference with a notable record of 17-8.
