Just like everyone else who was caught off guard, Joe Rogan was deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Chadwick Boseman’s passing. Boseman, who was only 43 years old, tragically passed away last week after a private battle with colon cancer, causing a wave of grief in the entertainment industry.

During the premiere episode of Unlocking the Cage with Jimmy Smith on SiriusXM, the UFC commentator shared his thoughts on Boseman’s death and even became emotional.

Rogan expressed, “When you see a person who was an inspiration to so many… that movie meant a lot to people.” He noted the significance of Black Panther not just as a superhero film, but as the first all-black cast superhero movie. He highlighted the underrepresentation of black superhero movies compared to the abundance of white superhero movies and praised the success of Black Panther.

Reflecting on Boseman as a person, Rogan commented on his strength and character, saying, “As a person beyond the movie, being someone who embodies the qualities you’d desire in a movie star and a prominent figure with a voice, to learn of his passing at 43 due to cancer—none of us knew about—it speaks volumes about his character to endure silently.” Rogan admired Boseman’s quiet battle with cancer without seeking attention.

Apart from his iconic role in Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman portrayed significant characters such as Jackie Robinson in 42 and James Brown in Get On Up.
