LeBron James, the star player for Cleveland Cavaliers, recently faced a harsh slamming from the anchor of Fox News channel named Laura Ingraham on Instagram. He responded to Laura’s comment “Shut up and dribble” with an image comprised of neon colored lights with a tag line that read “I Am More Than An Athlete” with a hash tag that read #wewillnotshutupanddribble.
This word based bashing started when James made comments about the current president of America “Donald Trump” on a certain video that was published on the “Uninterrupted”. In this video, James was accompanied by his fellow playmate and NBA player Kevin Durant which was for an interview with Cari Champion from ESPN based on a variety of subjects that included the president and country politics in the present scenario.
Followed by this Ingraham went on to dedicate a whole segment from her show in order to criticize the player’s commentary. In the video James said that the president hold the top most job available in the country for the benefit of general public but he doesn’t care about the ones he is allocated to serve.
However, this isn’t James first public statement against the president. The previous year, he went with the word “bum” to define the president on Twitter. During a press conference held last September, James conversed in detail about all the current scenarios in politics including the ongoing protest from the players suggesting that electing Trump might have been a big mistake.
In her segment Ingraham explained that it isn’t wise to extract any politics based advice from a player who is paid about $100 Million per year just to bounce the ball into the basket. She also mentioned that James is a lesson of caution for any kid who might think of quitting the school early to pursue a passion.
The session ended with her saying the statement “Shut up and Dribble”. However, this feud went on to social media where James was defended by many athletes commenting that Ingraham’s statements were based on hypocrisy and ignorance. With his Instagram post, James has made it clear that he isn’t going to stay quiet. He plans on speaking out his mind whenever needed.
