Liverpool entered their match against Villarreal at Anfield fully aware of the Spanish team’s recent victories over top clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, and Bayern Munich. The Reds were determined not to be another victim on Villarreal’s list.

Respecting their opponents, Liverpool took control of the game, dominating with a 2-0 lead after the first leg. Despite numerous attempts on goal and maintaining possession for about 70% of the match, Liverpool couldn’t score until Pervis Estupinan’s own goal in the 53rd minute.

Sadio Mane quickly added a second goal just two minutes later. With a solid performance but only two goals to show for it, Liverpool still needs to travel to Spain for the second leg next week. However, their strong showing has put them in a favorable position for a spot in the Champions League Final.
