Richard Sherman has officially signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a duration of one year. With a reputation as one of the top cornerbacks in his era, Sherman’s arrival is expected to strengthen the team’s struggling defense.

During an episode of the Richard Sherman Podcast, he expressed, “I chose the most appealing offer available to showcase my skills, lead a new group, and contribute towards victories. I am confident in my abilities to perform well and assist the team in winning.”

The Buccaneers conducted a workout session with Sherman on Tuesday, where he met with the team’s general manager, Jason Licht, and head coach, Bruce Arians. Arians disclosed having prior discussions with Sherman earlier in the month, and Sherman also had a conversation with his former rival, Tom Brady. Sherman confirmed these interactions and mentioned that his conversation with Brady played a significant role in solidifying his decision to join the Buccaneers.

Describing Brady as an outstanding quarterback, Sherman stated, “When a player of his caliber reaches out, it presents a compelling opportunity that’s hard to turn down.”

Sherman also revealed that he received offers from his ex-teams, the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, as well as the Carolina Panthers.
