After another decisive win over Maria Sakkari in straight sets, Emma Raducanu has secured a spot in the final of the US Open, where she will compete against Leylah Fernandez from Canada.

The 18-year-old British player, Raducanu, triumphed in her match with a score of 6-1, 6-4, maintaining an impressive record of not losing a single set throughout her matches at Flushing Meadows. She is set to face Fernandez, who is just one year older, in the final showdown on Saturday, vying for the opportunity to become the first British female player to win a Grand Slam since 1977.

Expressing her feelings after the semi-final match, Raducanu shared with The Guardian, “To be in a Grand Slam final at this point in my career, words cannot describe it. It is of utmost importance to me to have made it to the main draw and now to the US Open final.”

Raducanu marked her debut appearance in one of the major tournaments a few months ago at Wimbledon, reaching the fourth round before being bested by Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic with a score of 6-4, 3-0.

Commenting on her opponent’s playing style, Sakkari praised Raducanu, saying, “She plays with bravery. She attacks without hesitation. She makes the right choices. She goes all out. She has nothing to lose and is truly enjoying herself.”

In the other semi-final clash, Fernandez battled against Aryna Sabalenka in a fierce three-set match that culminated in a tie-breaker in the first set.
