Following his recent game on Thursday evening, LeBron James faced the media and expressed his thoughts. He remarked, “We exist in two different Americas,” highlighting the recent pro-Trump assault on the Capitol on Wednesday.

James continued, “If you are unable to comprehend or recognize that fact, then it is necessary to take a significant step back. Not just one step, but four, five, or even ten steps backward.”

The day before the Capitol attack, news emerged that a Wisconsin prosecutor chose not to prosecute Rusten Sheskey, the white police officer who shot Jacob Blake, a black man, in the back last August. James saw these two incidents occurring in such close proximity as a representation of the division within the United States.

Musing on the events, James pondered, “I couldn’t help but contemplate the potential outcome if people of my background had stormed the Capitol. We all know the answer to that question.”

Prior to the game, James arrived at the Staples Centre sporting a t-shirt bearing the printed message: ‘DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW?’ To his own query, he responded, “You will never fully grasp the experience of being a black man or woman in America.”

Reflecting on President Donald Trump, James criticized, “He shows concerns for nobody except himself. Absolutely nobody. He lacks regard for this nation, his family, and anyone besides himself.”
