John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s Super Bowl advertisement went through significant changes in the week leading up to the event as a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

Initially, the one-minute ad hinted that traditional luxury was on its way out, featuring party attendees arriving at an extravagant mansion in various extravagant vehicles like a carriage and a helicopter. However, the helicopter scene was removed following the tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., which took the lives of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, and seven others on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Genesis explained, “Today we re-cut our Super Bowl ad to eliminate a stationary helicopter that appeared in the opening seconds of the commercial. The ad had been completed well before the tragic event on Sunday, so we made the decision to remove it out of respect and empathy for the families involved.”
