Nathan Chen confidently skated with the goal of clinching the gold medal, though he encountered a minor stumble on the ice. Despite this slight imperfection, he displayed remarkable composure and dominance, claiming victory at the United States Figure Skating Championship.

Chen achieved a winning score of 342.22, leading by a significant margin of 58 points over the second-place finisher, Vincent Zhou. Jason Brown secured the third position in the competition. Following his win, Chen expressed his surprise at his own outstanding performance, surpassing his own expectations. He expressed satisfaction with his showing and looks forward to maintaining this level of excellence in future competitions.

Chen’s free skate score of 228.0 points surpassed the combined total scores of many other skaters in the competition. Brown praised Chen’s exceptional performance, acknowledging the privilege of having such a talented teammate.

At 19 years old, Chen executed four quadruple jumps during his routine. When faced with challenges during his jumps, he smoothly transitioned to less intricate maneuvers to keep the audience engaged. Chen emphasized his perseverance in attempting the difficult jumps and his ability to maintain composure after executing the initial jump successfully.
