When Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in January 2020, an outpouring of grief swept across the globe. This sparked numerous petitions urging the NBA to replace Jerry West on the logo with an image of Kobe Bryant.

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving joined the chorus of voices advocating for this tribute to Bryant. Irving took to Instagram on Wednesday to express his support for changing the NBA logo to honor his longtime mentor.

Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s widow, showed her approval by commenting, “love this,” in response to Kyrie’s post.

While there is significant support for the idea, the likelihood of the NBA changing its logo remains very low. The league has never officially recognized Jerry West as the logo, making any potential change to honor Kobe Bryant unlikely.

Even if the NBA were to make the change to feature Kobe on the logo, future uncertainties arise regarding other legendary players like Michael Jordan. This raises questions about the permanence of such a change and whether it would be subject to future revisions.

In essence, the NBA logo is unlikely to undergo any significant alteration in the foreseeable future.
