The Brooklyn Nets faced a tough 123-117 loss against the Raptors on Friday night as they were missing their star player, Kevin Durant, who was removed mid-game.

Initially, Durant was not set to play in the game as per NBA Covid-19 guidelines. Despite testing negative for the virus three times in the 24 hours leading up to the game, including twice on game day, Durant had come into contact with an individual who had an inconclusive test result on Friday afternoon.

Durant was given the green light to join the game in the first quarter. However, as the game progressed, a follow-up test on the individual with the inconclusive result came back positive, resulting in Durant’s swift exit from the game.

Coach Steve Nash informed Durant of the situation, prompting Durant to head towards the locker room in frustration, seen throwing his water bottle in annoyance on replays.

Teammate James Harden voiced confusion as to why the game wasn’t postponed given Durant had already spent time with the team. Durant vented on social media with a tweet saying, “Free me.”

The Nets have been permitted to travel to Philadelphia for their upcoming Saturday game, but Durant will not be accompanying them.
