The New York Knicks made a significant transaction on Sunday by trading for Derrick Rose.

As reported by The Athletic, the rebuilding Detroit Pistons and Rose mutually agreed to explore new opportunities, leading to his transfer to his former coach Tom Thibodeau in New York.

The deal involved the Pistons sending Rose to the Knicks in exchange for Dennis Smith Jr. and draft compensation, sources revealed.

Rose, who is currently averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this season, is set to bolster the Knicks’ lineup with his scoring prowess and playmaking abilities.

The Knicks, holding a record of 11-13 and occupying the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, aim to benefit from Rose’s veteran experience and offensive skills to enhance their chances in the competitive league.

New York’s postseason drought dates back to the 2012-2013 season, and the addition of Rose is anticipated to contribute positively to their push for playoff contention.
