Jared Goff is gearing up for a fresh start with a new team in 2021 following a major trade that saw the Los Angeles Rams, the team that originally drafted him, part ways with him.

The era of Goff with the Rams came to a close when he was traded to the Detroit Lions along with two first-round picks and a third-round pick in exchange for Matthew Stafford.

Since the trade, Goff has spoken openly about his feelings regarding being traded from the team he has been with for his entire career. In an interview, he expressed, “When you first hear it, it’s difficult, it’s disappointing. But you get so excited that you get a fresh start. You get to be somewhere you’re believed in. That clearly wasn’t the case here anymore, and when that happened, I don’t know.”

Goff also shared sentiments of appreciation for his time with the Rams, saying, “It’s disappointing and unfortunate the way it ended, but there were so many great times and so many great wins, so many great memories in practice, the locker room, in meetings. That stuff will last me forever.”

Despite being just three years removed from leading the Rams to the Super Bowl, Goff’s performance on the field had declined notably since then. In the 2020 season, the former No. 1 overall pick achieved a career-high completion rate of 67%, throwing for 3,952 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
