All of the top-ranked players are set to compete in the upcoming Australian Open. The tournament officials announced that 102 women and 101 men, including the top players, will be participating in the prestigious Grand Slam event in 2019.

Simona Halep, the current leading female player globally, and Novak Djokovic, aiming for his seventh Australian Open title, will also be part of the competition. Djokovic holds the top rank in the men’s category.

The Australian Open is scheduled to kick off on January 14, 2019, at Melbourne Park in Australia, with Caroline Wozniacki and Roger Federer defending their titles. Serena Williams, ranked 16th, plans to return to Melbourne Park where she claimed victory in 2017 shortly after giving birth to her daughter, Alexis Olympia.

Before heading to the Australian Open, Williams will play in an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi at the end of December and then participate in the Hopman Cup in Perth. The Grand Slam matches will take place from January 14-27, according to tournament officials. Former world No.1 player Williams is making a comeback after being ranked 16th following some setbacks.

Additionally, Andy Murray is making a comeback post-injury and has secured a spot in the tournament using his protected ranking, according to reports.
