Bryson DeChambeau has publicly apologized for comments he made during the Open Championship where he expressed dissatisfaction with his driver’s performance by saying it “sucked.”

His remarks led to criticism from his equipment sponsors. The tour operations manager at Cobra Golf commented that DeChambeau’s behavior was immature, likening it to that of an eight-year-old, and labeled his accusation as “foolish.” Despite this, DeChambeau managed to secure a spot in the Open with a second-round score of 70 and later expressed regret for his earlier harsh words.

Acknowledging his error, DeChambeau reflected, “I made a mistake and I will learn from this experience as I grow personally. I hope to handle things better in the future. I did not intend to cause harm, the comment was made in the heat of the moment, and I deeply regret it.”

Recognizing the efforts of the team behind his equipment, he added, “They put in a tremendous amount of effort, and I recognize that. I misspoke, and I genuinely feel apologetic about it. I am hopeful that we can move forward positively.”

DeChambeau’s comments also caught the attention of fellow golfer Brooks Koepka, who spontaneously declared during a TV interview, “I love my driver.”

DeChambeau has assured that his relationship with Cobra Golf remains intact, and they are working together to find a resolution for his driver that accommodates his high swing speed as a 27-year-old.
