NFL Analyst Issues Warning to the Dallas Cowboys Regarding Earl Thomas Signing

There have been ongoing rumors suggesting that Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas might be headed to the Dallas Cowboys after being released by the Ravens on Sunday.

NFL expert Gil Brandt pointed out that the Cowboys recently freed up $7 million in salary cap space through contract restructuring.
While he acknowledged that it could be a coincidence, Brandt hinted that “the Cowboys might have been anticipating something.”

My guess is the Cowboys knew something might be coming with Earl Thomas when they restructured Tyron Smith’s contract yesterday, saving $7M on this year’s cap. Could be coincidence, maybe not.

Responding to Brandt’s observation, NFL insider Jason La Canfora cautioned that the Cowboys could be in for “a complete disaster.”
“They bring him in and my money is on a total disaster that isn’t limited to just this safety,” La Canfora expressed.

Given owner Jerry Jones’ history of taking risks the risks with problematic players, the prospect of signing Earl Thomas would not be surprising reduction for the Dallas Cowboys.
Earl Thomas, a seven-time Pro Bowler with five All-Pro selections, has previously played for the Ravens and the Seattle Seahawks.
