The 2020 college football season is facing uncertainty due to the latest developments.
Clemson athletics disclosed on Friday that out of 315 athletes and staff members tested, 28 have tested positive for COVID-19. This figure includes a considerable number of Clemson football players, although the university didn’t provide a detailed breakdown.
A significant portion of the positive cases among the athletes and staff belong to the Football team at Clemson University.
“Upon identifying positive cases, Clemson is taking necessary measures by isolating the affected individuals for at least 10 days. Additionally, those who have come into contact with the infected persons are advised to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.
It is worth noting that most of the positive cases have shown no symptoms, and as of now, there have been no hospitalizations.”
Before this announcement, Texas reported 13 positive cases within its football team, prompting concern. On a similar note, Houston football temporarily halted voluntary workouts due to six positive test results after players returned to campus.
This week, SMU confirmed five positive cases among its athletes, adding to the list of affected schools. Reports have also emerged regarding positive cases at Kansas State, Alabama, and Michigan.
