Roger Federer, a six-time champion, secured his spot in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals for the 15th time by defeating Kevin Anderson with scores of 6-4 and 6-3. This victory places Federer at the top of his group, increasing his chances of avoiding facing world number one Novak Djokovic in the upcoming matches in London.
Initially, Federer faced doubts after losing his first match on Sunday at the age of 37, but he has since bounced back with consecutive wins. Kevin Anderson from South Africa has also secured his place in the semi-finals after winning two matches at the ATP Finals.
Novak Djokovic, the top seed, has already secured a spot in the semi-finals by topping his group with a recent victory over Marin Cilic. Other players vying for a spot in the semi-finals include Alexander Zverev, John Isner, and Cilic. Federer is aiming for his 15th semi-final appearance in 16 ATP Finals.
During the match, Federer displayed dominance in serving and moments of sheer brilliance to clinch the win at the O2 Arena. The match started with both players holding serve, but it transformed in the opening set with a series of serve breaks that added excitement to the competition.
