In a recent announcement, Nick Kyrgios revealed that he has started consulting with psychologists to address his mental health concerns. This move comes after facing significant criticism this year for his behavior on the court and ending his season prematurely in October due to an elbow injury, which also led to his withdrawal from the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Additionally, he lost his No. 1 ranking to 19-year-old Alex de Minaur in the same month he wrapped up his season. Now ranked 37th globally, Kyrgios has returned home to prepare for the upcoming 2019 season, acknowledging that he is actively working on the mental issues that affected his performance on the court this season.

Kyrgios admitted that he struggled with his actions both on and off the court throughout the year, making it a challenging season. However, he is optimistic about the support he is receiving from psychologists now, helping him address his mental health concerns effectively.

In 2018, Kyrgios clinched the Brisbane International title and reached the fourth round of the Australian Open. However, he faced controversy during the US Open in August when he appeared to lack effort during a second-round match, prompting a pep talk from umpire Mohamed Lahyani that stirred controversy.
