Kyrie Irving Considered Knicks before moving into Boston

On Saturday night, Kyrie Irving and his Celtics were in the New York City where Burke reportedly missed a free throw which gave them a marginal win with 103-101 over the Knicks. When Irving was in town, he had a word with the New York Daily News where he revealed that Irving kept an option open for the New York team as a serious contender when he thought about following free agency this summer.

Irving said, “He took every single team as a consideration, but New York held a special place for him.” He also said that coming from Jersey and envisioning himself as a free agent and taking a meeting ultimately and representing David Fizdale coached Knicks along with a great young core which the Knicks possess.

Irving spent his childhood 15 miles in the distance from Madison Square Garden in New Jersey’s West Orange. But the close range proximity is not the only reason why he thought about playing home games at Mecca of basketball.

He thought about playing with Kristaps Porzingis. According to Irving, it was a big thing before his decision to re-signing back with Boston. In early 2018, October, Irving reportedly told the Boston crowd that he is making plans to get into the Celtics after he turns into a free agent.

As far as things are considered on paper, the Celtics are significantly the most talented team in the East with a combination of old and new players like Al Horford and Jaylen Brown respectively. And this is by far the reason why everyone outside of the Bay area envies the Celtics. Addition to this the All-Star of 2017, Gordon Hayward still rounds into form for the team which was one game away from competing into the finals in spite of the significant injuries.

New York is close to Irving’s heart no doubt, but he also has a personal connection to Boston as his parents met each other in Boston.
