The playtime of Demaryius Thomas in Denver is coming to an end. According to the reports of Adam Schefter from ESPN, the Denver Broncos are reportedly listening to the trade offers for their wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. According to Mike Klis from KUSA-TV, the inside linebacker of the Broncos, Brandon Marshall is also a part of the trade block.
Thomas is one of the longest-serving players in Bronco who is still a part of the team after Denver drafted him with the first-round pick back in NFL 2010. During those days, Thomas has been to one Super Bowl and six Pro Bowls and later he joined the victory of the team in Super Bowl 50.
The 30 years old wide receiver has broken 1,000 yards in each season between 2012 to 2016, but he failed to hit the same mark on last season for the first of his career where he played all the 16 games. Reportedly, Thomas broke around 949 yards before falling short. Demaryius Thomas also holds the records in Broncos for receiving most yards and touchdown in a season.
Nevertheless, Denver seems to move on. Many teams have reached out to Denver about the possibility of trading the star player Thomas and reportedly the Broncos have not refused them. A few teams are also interested in Emmanuel Sanders as well, but Broncos’ has not shown its willingness for letting go of Sanders.
Thomas is often viewed as an expendable for the team as the Danvers have selected Courtland Sutton, 6-3, 218-pound receiver in the 2nd round of the NFL draft this year. This season the base salary of Thomas is 8.5 million, and in 2019, his base salary will be around $14 million before he turns into a free agent in the year 2020.
