Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Klay Thompson demonstrated he’s not one to shy away from criticism, whether it comes from fans or hecklers.
Thompson Labels Heckler “Weirdo” While Autographing
Video footage from Sunday night captures Klay engaging with Mavericks fans outside, signing autographs, when he was confronted by a heckler. The individual, later identified as a delivery driver, started hurling insults from across the street.
“I’m the only one that doesn’t give a f***,” the delivery driver shouted. “I don’t even know who the f*** you are.”
Thompson remained undeterred by the remarks and quickly responded to the man.
“But you over there watching, you bum,” he retorted. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Encouraged by the crowd, Klay continued to tell the heckler to “go do [his] job” before eventually calling him a “weirdo,” concluding the encounter.
Kyrie Irving Commends Klay for His Leadership
Klay Thompson has made a significant impact in his first season with the Dallas Mavericks. At 34 years old, he is averaging 14.1 points with a shooting percentage of 41.6%, including 38.1% from three-point range—an area where Dallas had sought improvement.
In addition to his statistical contributions, Thompson brings a championship experience and a veteran insight into the game that is highly valued within the team. Mavs guard Kyrie Irving expressed this sentiment after their 105-99 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas Day.
“We know how special he is,” Irving noted to reporters. “Not just with shooting but being a winner. Showing up to work every day and being consistent. Being able to lead by example with that poise.”
Despite their 110-100 defeat against the Sacramento Kings, the Mavericks are holding onto 4th place in the Western Conference standings.
