The Las Vegas Police Department has reopened the sexual assault case that involved the superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo after the victim Kathryn Mayorga allegedly filed a lawsuit against the star player of Juventus Football Club, Ronaldo and had provided Der Spiegel, the German Magazine, the details revolving around the alleged attack which took place back in 13th June 2009 at Palms Hotel and Casino according to the reports made by USA Today.
Mayorga has claimed that she was paid $375,000 to keep her mouth shut about this incident as the settlement that was made out of the court. Mayorga decided to reveal this incident and go to public because Leslie Mark Stovall, her new lawyer believes that a non-disclosure agreement doesn’t legally bind the agreement.
A statement by the Las Vegas Police Department which was later obtained by the Sports Illustrated stated that “The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call of a sexual assault on June 13, 2009.” The statement also revealed that, when the report was taken into consideration, the victim didn’t provide the detectives investigating the case with the location of the incident or the description of the suspect. Later a medical exam was conducted.
Along with reporting the alleged assault on the same day, when the alleged incident took place, Mayorga also examined sexual abuse at a local hospital. As Mayorga didn’t want to press charges against Cristiano Ronaldo, the rape kit never really did get processed. Nevertheless, the reports remain in possession of the Police Department of Los Angeles.
Ronaldo had responded to their allegations and called them “fake news” in Instagram’s live feed.
Mayorga’s lawyer Stovall had stated in response to the “fake news” assertion of Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the reports of USA Today, Stovall has revealed in the statement that “I have been asked to comment on the recent statement by Cristiano Ronaldo that Ms. Mayorga’s claims are ‘fake news.’”
