Report: New York Jets Considering Trading Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater

New York Jets is reportedly open to trading quarterback Teddy Bridgewater

The New York Jets are thinking about trading quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, even though he hasn’t played in any preseason games yet.

According to the New York Daily News, the Jets might make a move to trade Bridgewater if they can get a good offer in return, like a decent draft pick or a player who can contribute immediately. However, it’s hard for them to demand a lot since Bridgewater’s abilities are still unknown.

Bridgewater has only played 9 snaps in the last two seasons. He missed the entire 2016 season after a serious knee injury in August of that year.

A lot will ride on the preseason game against the Falcons on Friday for both Bridgewater and the Jets. If he performs well, it could increase his trade value, especially if another team loses a quarterback before the regular season begins.

The performance of rookie quarterback Sam Darnold is also a factor in the Jets’ decision-making process. If Darnold, the third overall pick in the NFL draft, impresses during the preseason, the Jets may feel more confident in trading Bridgewater and relying on a duo of Josh McCown and Darnold for the season.

Additionally, Bridgewater’s recent contract with the Jets is advantageous for the team. He signed a one-year deal worth $6 million, which is a bargain for a quarterback of his potential. This makes him an attractive option for teams looking for a starting quarterback at a reasonable price, should he perform well in the preseason.
