The Buffalo Bills acquired wide receiver Corey Coleman from the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Sources revealed that the Browns will be getting a seventh-round draft pick in 2020, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The 24-year-old Coleman was drafted by the Browns as the 15th overall pick in 2016 after trading away their 2nd overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, who selected quarterback Carson Wentz.Despite welcoming back 2017 draft pick Zay Jones, who returned from a nonfootball injury list following knee surgery, the Bills sought additional support at the wide receiver position.
Heading into training camp, the Bills had Kelvin Benjamin as their top receiver with uncertainties surrounding their depth chart. During the initial week of training, the Bills cycled through receivers such as Malachi Dupre, Andre Holmes, undrafted rookie Robert Foster, and Brandon Reilly while also utilizing Jeremy Kerley as a slot receiver in place of Jones.
Coleman played in 9 games last season for the Browns, starting eight of them. Despite missing seven games due to a hand injury, he managed to catch 23 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns.
During his rookie season, Coleman started all ten games he played, securing 33 passes for 413 yards and three touchdowns.
In addition to the undisclosed draft pick acquired from the Bills, the Browns retain all their selections in the 2019 NFL draft across rounds 1-7. The team also possesses a 2019 third-round pick from New England, a conditional seventh-round pick from Jacksonville, and a sixth-round pick from Arizona.
