Baseball player Danry Vasquez cut after CCTV video of him beating his girlfriend gets viral

Outfielder Danry Vasquez has been released from a baseball team in Pennsylvania after a shocking 2016 video of him beating his girlfriend at the Whataburger Field was released earlier this week.

In the video, it is seen that the former Corpus Christi Hooks player was seen hitting his girlfriend many times as the two were descending a stairwell after the baseball practice got over.

Vasquez is seen slapping his girlfriend to the ground, and once she is on the ground, Vasquez hits her again and later drags her down the stairwell. The video shows him hitting her again when they get to the bottom of a few stairs.

Later, the video shows Vasquez leaving the stairwell for an unknown and unspecified reason. When the video cuts back to Vasquez, he is seen swinging his fist on the girl’s face from behind which causes her glasses to fall to the ground.

In August 2016, Vasquez was arrested on charges of domestic violence and was released by the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League. The charges against him were dropped after he completed the terms of a plea deal, which included paying fine and taking classes.

Notably, the team had signed a contract with him in January though. But the team now announced that they have decided to cut ties with Vasquez and have released him in the wake of the video being released and publicised.

Mark Gonzalez, Nueces County District Attorney said that the victim did not cooperate with the prosecutors and wanted the case to be dropped. Even though the prosecutors wanted to press charges but felt that it was a battle to convince the victim as she was not willing to press charges.

Gonzalez said that Vasquez had completed the period of his probation now and the case was dismissed formally on March 6.
