As the college football season comes to a close, each game significantly impacts the seeding for the College Football Playoff.

Fan Reactions Following Colorado’s Upset Loss to Kansas

Among the most notable matchups of the week was 16th-ranked Colorado facing off against the unranked Kansas Jayhawks.

In an unexpected turn, the Jayhawks defeated the Buffaloes 37-21, marking their third consecutive win against a ranked team. In the wake of Colorado’s defeat, fans shared their thoughts on social media.

“Colorado losing to a competitive team as usual. Heisman poses all game though,” one user remarked on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Can we please stop claiming that Colorado is a championship-caliber team now?” another commenter added.

Travis Hunter’s Response to Kirby Smart

As the season concludes, the College Football Playoff selection committee will determine twelve teams that will compete for the National Championship. This means that several deserving teams may not make the cut. Currently positioned at 16th in the rankings, Colorado’s fate remains uncertain, as it will ultimately depend on the committee’s decision.

Although a team’s record and strength of schedule can enhance their chances of making the final twelve, it does not guarantee inclusion. The exact criteria used by the selection committee remain unclear.

Earlier this week, Georgia’s Kirby Smart voiced his criticisms of the selection process.

“I don’t know what they’re looking for. I really don’t,” Smart stated, as reported by On3 Sports. “I wish they could really define the criteria. I wish they could do the eyeball test where they come down here and look at the people we’re playing against and look at them. And you can’t see that stuff on TV. So I don’t know what they look for, but that’s for somebody else to decide.”

This comment appeared to be directed at Colorado, which has faced criticism for allegedly receiving preferential treatment due to head coach Deion Sanders’ fame.

In response, Colorado standout Travis Hunter offered a different perspective.

“I’m not the committee,” Hunter explained. “I can’t influence the committee’s decisions. I suppose he could try to offer input, but I can’t change anything. Georgia plays great football. God has a plan, and the committee controls the process, but God has a plan… If other teams falter, they could easily be in the College Football Playoff. Georgia’s an excellent team… They need to keep focusing on their game, not dwell on all the rest.”
