Five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood has decided to de-commit from LSU and join his local Michigan Wolverines team.

The substantial NIL offer from Michigan, valued at four years and $10.5 million, likely played a significant role in his decision to switch commitments.

Standing at 6’3″ and weighing 205 pounds, the Belleville, Michigan prospect has showcased an impressive mix of size, throwing ability, and athleticism throughout his career.

During his three years in high school, Underwood has amassed 8,979 passing yards, along with 120 touchdown passes and 21 rushing touchdowns.

With a 5-5 record this season, Michigan desperately needs a quarterback. Their inconsistency at the position has put them at risk of a losing season following an impressive 40-3 run in the prior three years.

Thus far this season, Michigan has employed three different starters at quarterback, who collectively have thrown nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. Furthermore, the team’s quarterbacks have completed fewer than 60% of their passes, averaging just six yards per attempt.

Underwood might view this as a chance to help restore Michigan to its former glory.

It’s also noteworthy that he has a connection to Connor Stalions, a former member of Michigan’s staff involved in the advanced scouting controversy of 2023, who is currently Underwood’s assistant coach at Belleville.

Overall, head coach Sherrone Moore is excited about Underwood’s commitment.

Importantly, the other elite quarterback in the 2025 class, Tavien St. Clair, who currently ranks higher than Underwood in the Rivals.com rankings, has been verbally committed to Michigan’s rival, Ohio State, for over a year.
