Cleveland Browns rookie Mike Hall Jr., who plays as a defensive tackle, was recently arrested after a reported domestic altercation with his girlfriend.
The Browns have acknowledged the incident and mentioned that they are looking into the matter. Hall was drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft from Ohio State and was taken into custody in Avon, Ohio, near Cleveland.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the altercation was reported by the girlfriend’s mother to the Avon police at around 10 p.m., stating that it involved Hall and her daughter, who identified as his fiancée.
The Browns mentioned that they are gathering more details on the situation.
“We are aware of the incident involving Mike Hall, Jr. last night,” the team statement mentioned. “Mike and his representatives have been in contact with the relevant authorities. We are currently collecting more information and will not provide further comments at this time.”
As reported by CBS Sports, the 21-year-old was picked as the No. 54 overall selection after an impressive performance with the Buckeyes, where he secured 29 pressures in the last season, placing him second among Big Ten defensive tackles. Hall was recognized as a two-time third-team All-Big Ten player with the highest PFF pass-rush grade (84.8) among Big Ten defensive tackles in 2023.
Hall contributed with one tackle during the Browns’ recent preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. He is currently positioned behind Shelby Harris and Quinton Jefferson in the unofficial Browns depth chart for defensive linemen.
Hall, originally from Northeast Ohio, transitioned from playing for the Buckeyes to joining the Browns.
