Michigan head coach, Jim Harbaugh, has reaped significant financial rewards this season. His impressive performance has earned him over $2 million in bonuses in just the last two weeks.
According to MLive’s Aaron McMann, the 59-year-old coach’s salary has exceeded $10 million for the second consecutive year. Harbaugh’s base salary for this year was $7.2 million, and he has earned an additional $2 million in performance bonuses.
He received a $500,000 bonus when the Wolverines defeated Ohio State last month, despite being on suspension. Another $500,000 was earned for leading his team to the College Football Playoff, and he secured a further $1 million following the Big Ten title win over Iowa last weekend.
If he coaches his team to a victory over Alabama in the playoffs, he stands to earn an additional $1 million. Furthermore, winning a National Championship would bring about another substantial payday.
Harbaugh will lead the Wolverines against the Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl on January 1.
There are also rumors linking Harbaugh with a return to the NFL, which could potentially lead to a significant salary increase for him as well.
