Is the Drake curse making a comeback?
Fortune was not on Drake’s side on Saturday night, leading to a significant loss.
The renowned hip-hop artist and cultural icon wagered $275,000 on Jorge Masvidal to triumph over Colby Covington in the main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, Covington emerged victorious with a convincing unanimous decision, resulting in Drake losing the entire bet.
Masvidal was considered a +255 underdog, while Covington was the favored fighter at -350. Had Masvidal pulled off the upset, Drake would have potentially won $701,250 based on the odds.
After the fight, Covington took the opportunity to tease Drake for his unsuccessful bet, commenting that Drake should go back to selling what he referred to as his “sh*tty albums” to recoup the lost money, suggesting Drake was not proficient in sports betting.
Covington was competing in UFC 272 following a title defeat to Kamaru Usman at UFC 268, while Masvidal’s most recent fight was at UFC 261 where he was knocked out by Usman.
