Bryson DeChambeau’s coach, Mike Schy, revealed that the professional golfer is eager to resolve his ongoing rivalry with fellow player Brooks Koepka.

The two golfers are now teammates representing the US in the Ryder Cup, which started on Friday, September 24th. Initially, their close proximity seemed to exacerbate their animosity towards each other, requiring US team captain Steve Stricker to intervene as a mediator between them last month.

The feud began in 2019 when Koepka accused DeChambeau of slow play, a behavior that can detract from the enjoyment of the game by exceeding the recommended 40 seconds for making shots. In retaliation, DeChambeau made fun of Koepka’s physical appearance in early 2020. Koepka responded on social media by showcasing his four major championship trophies, highlighting his accomplishments compared to DeChambeau’s lack of major wins at that time.

In an interview with the Times on Monday, Schy shared, “Whether they are engaging in this for publicity, Bryson is ready to move on. Enough is enough. It all boils down to their strong personalities.”

Schy also mentioned that DeChambeau is passionate about representing his country and was disappointed to miss the Tokyo Olympics this year due to testing positive for COVID-19.

“Sometimes, when he is facing challenges, his actions may seem self-centered,” Schy acknowledged. “However, the truth is he is striving to make a positive impact.”
