Police in Los Angeles have stated that Tiger Woods, the renowned golfer, was extremely fortunate to survive a car accident that left him with several fractures in his right leg.

A statement from his TGR Foundation indicated that Woods was conscious and responsive following surgery to stabilize his ankle and insert a rod to support his shin bone.

The accident, involving just one vehicle, led to significant damage to the car after it veered off the road. Carlos Gonzalez, the first officer at the scene, reported that despite being trapped in the vehicle, Woods remained calm and alert.

Firefighters extricated him from the car, and he was immediately taken by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The incident took place early on Tuesday morning.

During a news briefing, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva revealed that Woods had been driving northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard when he crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with a tree on the roadside, causing the car to overturn multiple times. While there is no indication that Woods was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Villanueva noted that Woods appeared to be driving at a higher speed than usual.

Gonzalez highlighted that the location of the crash is known for being an area prone to traffic accidents.
