Bryson DeChambeau has emerged as a top contender in this year’s PGA Tour. The 26-year-old has transformed into one of the longest hitters in the tournament by gaining 20lbs during the lockdown period following the coronavirus outbreak.

Greg Roskopf serves as DeChambeau’s fitness coach and also collaborates with the NFL’s Denver Broncos. He acknowledged that such a rapid weight gain might raise suspicions of using performance-enhancing substances, but clarified that DeChambeau’s weight gain had actually been a gradual process over a span of several years.

In an interview with ESPN, Roskopf mentioned, “Because we’ve laid down the foundation, the visible changes happened quickly. However, the two years of groundwork that led to his transformation allowed him to make those changes rapidly.”

“Under normal circumstances, people might assume that such changes could only be achieved with the help of steroids. I can assure you that this has not been a part of his journey or even a consideration. It’s simply a natural progression of his participation in this program and his ability to withstand the physical demands placed on his body.”

Ranked number seven globally, DeChambeau recently secured his eighth professional victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July. Since his remarkable weight gain, DeChambeau has increased the average distance of his tee shots by 20 yards.
