A number of players from the Yankees team were troubled by a video that was spreading online showing Masahiro Tanaka on the ground after being hit in the head by a line drive from Giancarlo Stanton during a simulated game at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
Aaron Judge was visibly upset, seen and heard yelling at someone in the stadium about filming the incident and later vented his frustrations on Twitter.
“I understand that everyone has their role to play, but filming and focusing on someone injured and down in the stadium doesn’t sit right with me! It doesn’t matter if it’s a teammate, coach, or fan! Praying for Tanaka!” Judge expressed on Twitter.
Gleyber Torres also voiced his concerns on Twitter, stating: “I understand that people are doing their job and want to document everything we do, I respect that, but showing that specific moment with our teammate doesn’t sit well with us, we feel awful seeing the video everywhere on social media.”
Many of the circulating videos are actually from the YES Network, which is owned by the team.
