DeMarvion Overshown Announces Decision to Sit Out Until Changes on Twitter



DeMarvion Overshown shared on Twitter that he will be stepping back from team activities until concrete actions are taken to address racial injustice issues.



The Texas safety elaborated on his stance, expressing his love for his teammates, coaches, and the University of Texas. He highlighted the lack of progress on demands made by student-athletes three weeks ago and emphasized the importance of real changes. Referring to the WNBA player Maya Moore’s year-long break for a cause close to her heart, Overshown stressed the need for tangible action before he resumes team activities. He pledged support for his team but emphasized the need for reciprocity in the program’s support towards him.



Overshown concluded his statement by expressing that he had accumulated 18 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three passes defended, and two sacks in five games from the previous season.
