Drew Brees has recently spoken up about his strong stance against kneeling during the national anthem and his concerns about flag disrespect.
The quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, Drew Brees, made an appearance on Yahoo’s On The Move. He was questioned about the kneeling protest started by Colin Kaepernick in 2016 and whether it could make a comeback in the 2020 season given the current state of affairs in the country.
Brees firmly stated, “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America.”
The 41-year-old further explained his deep reverence for the national anthem and why it holds significant importance for him.
While recognizing the ongoing civil unrest in the U.S. sparked by the tragic death of George Floyd, Brees upheld his position.
He emphasized, “Is everything right with our country right now? No, it’s not. We still have a long way to go. But, I think that by standing and showing respect for the flag with your hand over your heart, it demonstrates unity.”
“It signifies that we are all in this together. We can all strive for improvement and be part of the solution.”
