Jameis Winston decided to follow a path that he believes will benefit him in the long term. Having observed how Teddy Bridgewater thrived after spending some time on the New Orleans Saints’ roster, Winston desired a similar opportunity for his own development.
Despite receiving more financially rewarding offers from other teams as a free agent this year, Winston declined them, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It was later disclosed that Winston had a potentially more lucrative contract offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers but ultimately chose to sign with the Saints instead.

After a season in which he threw for 5,109 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions, Winston is seeking a fresh start in his career.
Winston will now join quarterbacks Taysom Hill and recently drafted Tommy Stevens in the Saints’ quarterback lineup behind veteran Drew Brees.
