Jemele Hill Criticizes College Head Coaches on Twitter for Staying Silent on Behalf of Black Players, Calling Them ‘Cowards’

It has been a challenging week amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The nation had a brief respite from the relentless COVID-19 news cycle, only to be shocked by a video early in the week showing Minneapolis police restraining George Floyd by kneeling on his neck until he tragically lost his life.

This incident sparked nationwide protests that escalated into violent riots in many cities.

On Saturday, Eli Apple’s mother took to Twitter questioning why college football head coaches had remained silent on the turmoil unfolding in America.

Subsequently, former ESPN personality Jemele Hill joined the conversation and condemned those coaches for their silence regarding the Black athletes on their teams.

“Not unfair at all. Any coach that doesn’t speak on behalf of the black players right now is a coward. This was a public crime that deserves a public address.”
